A little less than a month ago, I wrote a post pondering the merits of noise-canceling earbuds and whether or not they were worth the hefty price tag.
The verdict is in: totally worth it!
I recently flew to Amsterdam and tested my new Bose QC20 earbuds. While I still was not able to sleep much on the flight, the noise cancellation was very impressive (as was the battery life).
One of my co-workers mentioned how energy-draining the constant low-pitched hum of the plane engines is and he only realized it after he tried noise canceling headphones. I have to say that I agree with him.
The drone of the engines literally disappeared as soon as I activated the noise cancellation. It felt like all of the background noise just dropped away and I was left just with the crystal clear sound of the movie I was watching. It was remarkable at how much more peaceful it was. Although noise cancellation isn’t intended to mute sounds like crying babies, I found that it muffled those types of sounds enough that I could barely hear them.
If you travel frequently on planes or public transportation, you might want to get yourself a set of noise canceling earbuds or headphones and give it a try.
